This workshop is designed to help practitioners gain a deeper understanding, at an applied level, of the issues involved in improving data quality through editing, imputation, and record linkage. The workshop is intended to be an introduction to our text book on Data Quality and Record Linkage Techniques (Included with price of course). While the text provides a mixture of practical advice, mathematical rigor, management insight, and philosophy, the emphasis in the workshop will be on practical advice and philosophy. In order to accomplish this, we will discuss a wide-range of applications that we have been involved with. Topics include mortgage finance, medical and biomedical research, highway safety, social insurance, and survey sampling. At the end of the workshop, participants should have gained insight into how to improve the quality of their databases by using (1) basic data quality tools and (2) record linkage techniques either within a single database or across two or more databases.
